"I liked the combination of instruction and practical application. Also the safety emphasis, and learning to think for myself. You appreciated each individual, and helped create group cohesiveness. Loved your humour!"

Dan Lewis has set the standard for sea kayak instruction in British Columbia since 1984. No-one in BC has more experience teaching sea kayaking and training guides. Bonny Glambeck is one of the few female Guide Trainers in the province, and brings a unique perspective to the industry.

There is no better place to learn to guide sea kayaking trips than in Tofino. Our waterfront location on the west coast of Vancouver Island allows easy access to a full range of paddling conditions, from flat-water inlets, to tidal rapids, to open coastline exposed to the Pacific swell, with miles of remote white sand surf beaches. We will not waste your course time driving! Whether you want the training required to guide commercial kayak trips, or you are an intermediate paddler seeking the full-on start-to-finish adventure kayaking course with a focus on leadership, we can provide you with a solid foundation on which to build as you learn and grow as a paddler.

Our LEAD 100 is endorsed by the Sea Kayak Guide's Alliance of BC (SKGABC). Our LEAD 101 course is endorsed by both the SKGABC and the Association of Canadian Sea Kayak Guides (ACSKG). Participants who successfully complete their course and meet additional ACSKG or SKGABC requirements will be eligible for certification by either industry body.

All kayaking equipment and accessories, tents, and group camping gear are provided. All you need to bring is your personal clothing, sleeping bag and pad, and a sense of adventure! You are encouraged to bring any kayaking, rescue, or navigation equipment you wish to practice with.
